A completely no pressure race situation and an ode to Clif Z Bars. {Flash Giveaway!}

The race that I’ve been looking forward to and planning for since April is tomorrow.

Charles Street 12!!! YAY!!!

There I am looking like a total jackass during Charles Street 12 last year. I guess that’s what happens when I’m delirious and happen to see a race photographer.

I was hoping to PR and feeling pretty confident that I might be able to make it happen. My foot was SO messed up last year. But no pressure or anything. A great many awesome people are running this race tomorrow that my biggest goal for the day is to meet up with all of them at the finish line. A good time would be the icing on all the cake that I plan on eating later in the day.

However, I have a new assignment that is going to make Charles Street 12 2015 a little crazier. My super awesome friend who works in marketing for Charm City Run put me in contact with another super awesome woman from the marketing department at Under Armour. Under Armour has partnered up with Charm City Run and that is basically the reason this race is happening.  Now I will be running dressed head to toe in Under Armour gear and photographed along the way. Obviously I’m stoked because I haven’t met a piece of their clothing that I haven’t liked. In fact, I think pretty much everything I have on in that goofy photo above aside from the calf sleeves is Under Armour.

But how will this photographer know how to find me? Good question and that’s easy. I’ll be live tracked via phone app so they know my whereabouts at all time.

But yeah. No pressure or anything.

Now that this has gone from casual training run to complete terror over looking like that-up-there in all my photos, Charles Street 12 should be an interesting race for me this year! It’s going to be fun. I just hope I do a good job.

Now about those Clif Z Bars

If you happen to be an Insta-friend you might have seen the pile of delicious that I posted last night.

I’m getting hungry again just looking at that picture. These arrived in a mystery box on my doorstep. Mystery boxes are what happen when something arrives at my house and I can’t remember if I went shopping or not. Sadly this is a recurring problem.

Betty and I had gotten back from dinner and I had promised her dessert. Chocolate Chip, Honey Graham, Chocolate Brownie, and Iced Oatmeal Cookie sound a whole lot like dessert to me so she and I ripped into one of the brownie ones and split it. It was SO incredibly good. Betty loved it so much that she asked if she could pick out another one to eat in the morning before school and I’ll be picking out one to take to work with me because even though these are supposed to be for kids they are way too good for them to not be for me too. I have a feeling that they will become a regular item on our weekly grocery shopping list.

Because I was so fortunate to receive so many delicious Z Bars, I thought today I might do a little FLASH GIVEAWAY for three of these delicious flavors (Chocolate Chip, Honey Graham, and Iced Oatmeal Cookie). If you would like to try them, leave a comment below telling me which flavor sounds the best to you! Comments must be timestamped prior to midnight PST TONIGHT. Then I will put everyone’s name into a randomizer to draw a winner to be announced on Facebook tomorrow afternoon.

In addition to these yummy Z Bars, I had received some other Clif samples to try, but I will have more to say about those next week as I plan on using some of them to fuel for this weekend’s races!

If you’re racing this weekend GOOD LUCK and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!

Tangled. {Not Disney related…a Cordskinz review & giveaway!}

I am a music runner. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if I didn’t have anything to listen to while I’m out there (except for maybe if it were a really, really long run), but I definitely prefer it. Music motivates me and can quiet my mind if I’m in a tough spot. I run with my phone and a pair of Yurbuds which are much better than the old pair of iPhone ear buds that I used to use that never wanted to stay in my ears.

Aside from the whole staying put in my head factor, another feature of Yurbuds is that the cords are supposedly anti-tangle. This was a huge selling point for me because I am known to carelessly toss everything into my gym bag when I’m running out of the house and would then end up wasting a good 10 minutes trying to untangle the iPhone ear bud wires. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my Yurbuds and I think they are great, but although the are definitely more tangle-free than my old headphones, I occasionally have issues with them.

They were hopelessly tangled when I was trying to get all geared up for my long run on the trail the other weekend and I got so frustrated that I threw them across my car and then had to waste even more time trying to dig them out from under the seat. Then I remembered…rather than go through all this again, why not put the CordSkinz that were so generously sent to me to try out to good use?

Honestly I felt a little Intimidated by them at first. Because CordSkinz are custom fit, they come with a stripping tool that you use to fit the skin around your headphone wire. The package says “simple to use”, but I was still skeptical. As crafty as I can be sometimes I am generally terrible at using tools, putting things together or following instructions and expected that this would end up as some kind of disaster.

This ended up not being the case. Installing my CordSkinz was a breeze. I had both sides fitted and trimmed within a few minutes. But would these really make a difference?

Actually yeah they do. I rolled my wires up the way I usually do which always causes them to become  knotted up in my gym bag. I could shake them out with one hand. No tangles! Pretty cool!

no tangles

The other concern I had was that these would add an extra, unpleasant amount of weight on to my headphones. I really couldn’t tell a difference and then after wearing them on the elliptical at the gym (because that’s what I’m doing during Week 15 of marathon training instead of running…AWESOME) I’ve decided I’m a fan because it keeps the wires from bouncing obnoxiously around.

I’m happy with my CordSkinz. I would also be happy to give one of you a pair.

I took the leap. {prAna 30 Day Challenge Recap in photos}

There was a bit of confusion over the actual length of the prAna Take the Leap 30 Day Challenge which was advertised to run from February 2 until March 8. If you know anything about calendars that does not equal 30 days. You don’t need to be a math genius to figure it out. I even figured it out.

Day 30 was yesterday and the Challenge has come to an end. I’m a little sad it didn’t run all the way to my birthday like they originally said it would, but just because it’s over doesn’t mean I have to stop doing yoga! I plan on continuing on with #yogaeveryday for as long as my body will let me.

Anyway here’s a little of what I’ve been up to for the past month:

My heart explodes with pride when I look at this photo. It’s everywhere…my phone, my work computer, on my desk. I could stare at it for hours. She’s so precious that I can barely process it. I can’t believe I’m going to have a 3 year old TOMORROW!!! I have quite a few awesome gifts all ready for her.

If anyone was interested in a little extra yoga-vation, here are some links to the Kick Asana Yoga Instructor Interview Series that I ran weekly while the Challenge was in full swing. So much inspiration from these ladies!

And speaking of awesome gifts  I HAVE A WINNER to announce! This lucky someone is going to be my Lily Trotters compression sock twin:

I will be contacting you shortly to gather your details so I can send out your prize. I hope you love them!

Thank you to everyone who entered and to the ever-awesome Susan at Lily Trotters for providing me with such a fantastic socks. I have been doing a lot of laundry lately because I don’t like running without them!

I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy Wednesday!
