I’ve been Liebstered! {Thank you, Sara!}

We are in full-swing holiday mode around here! Santa visits, cookie baking, shopping for presents, quality time with family and friends, and pretty Christmas dresses (for B AND for me!)…I LOVE this time of year! And you know what else I love?

Awesome people who nominate me for fun blog awards. Sara is one of the most wonderful people and if you read her blog you probably know that already. She has always been so supportive of me and so many others and is such a thoughtful and caring friend. THANK YOU for my Liebster, lady!

1) What is my current health related goal?

Easy peasy. My biggest goal is to AVOID INJURY. One of the best changes that I’ve made to my routine recently is adding in more strength training in the form of Body Pump class. I feel like every other week I’m able to add extra weight to my bar and some of the nagging issues with my right leg are nil now that I’ve been so focused on getting stronger. Plus I have a butt now and my pants fit better. I guess squats will do that.

2) What is my biggest irrational fear?

I like to think that most of my fears are rational, but the one that makes the least sense is my complete and total aversion to swimming in dark water. And even when I got to swim in the clearest water in the world while in Turks & Caicos for my wedding/honeymoon, I was still having shark panic attacks. This is why I will probably never be able to do a triathlon unless the swimming portion includes a pool.

3) Do I enjoy wrapping presents?

Absolutely and I like picking out ridiculous wrapping paper to wrap the presents in even more. Mr. Salt got Justin Bieber paper last year.

4) What’s my favorite cross training activity?

Yoga! Followed closely by Body Pump and more recently bouncing on trampolines. I also like to attend the occasional spin class and get on the step mill, although I’m a little less keen on that after tumbling off it last Sunday in front of everyone at my gym.

5) If you came to visit me, what would we do?

CRAB CAKES, HON!!! You can’t come to Baltimore without getting a crab cake. If you came in the summertime, I would take you to an Orioles game and then to hang out at the harbor or maybe up to Hampden which has a lot of cool restaurants and shops. If you came around Christmas time, I’d take you to the famed Miracle on 34th street! (Also in Hampden.)

6) I have 2 weeks off work and 2 round trip plane tickets to ANYWHERE. Where would you go and who would you take?

What kind of fairy tale is this!? I agree with Sara’s non-rule following and would definitely take Mr. Salt AND Betty because I can’t imagine leaving her for 2 weeks.  I’d want to go to Italy and tour as many places as I could fit in, especially Florence, Venice, Rome, and Pompeii. Meanwhile Betty would want pizza for every meal.

7) What’s the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me during a run or race?

Definitely falling down at the start of Zoo Zoom last year. I’ve taken some spills on other runs too, but a thousand people didn’t see any of those happen or almost step on me.

8) The 3 best days of my life? Or at least the top 3 that pop into my mind…

Easily #1 is the day Betty was born, despite the hideous labor and resulting c-section. #2 would be the day I married Mr. Salt. And number 3…always a very special place in my heart for the day I crossed my first marathon finish line!

9) Okay so I HAVE to eat a fast food meal. What restaurant would I choose and what do I order?

So most of you guys have never had Nalley Fresh, but you would hardly have to twist my arm to go there. I count it as fast food because it operates somewhat like a Chipotle except it’s super healthy. My current go-to is a salad with mixed greens and spinach, blackened chicken, roasted peppers, edamame, artichokes, asiago cheese, corn, and balsamic dressing.

Come to think of it, if you visited me I would probably take you there.

10) Have you ever met a celebrity?

Like it was my job. Because it was my job. I used to work in advertising for one of the biggest entertainment magazines in the country. Just living in Hollywood lent itself to meeting lots of celebs. Some of them were very nice. Some of them were not. I’ve found that in general the less well-known the celebrity is, the more obnoxious they are.

11) Share a pic of myself in non-workout clothes.

This was harder than it should have been, but here you go. I always love an excuse to post a pic of this epic meeting with my Sole Sister!

12) If I could choose to have a ‘do over’and switch careers, what would I choose and why?

No ‘do overs’ for me! My degree is in art and I’ve been working in my field for 14 years. I consider myself VERY lucky!

13) If I won an Olympic Gold Medal how do I think I would react?

Probably by passing out from shock.

14) What do I want for Christmas?

WORLD PEACE! Also shoes. I just got myself a new pair for a total steal off Ebay and I’m excited to try them out. Otherwise I have requested a new Garmin from Mr. Salt.

15) What skill do I lack?

I’m hilariously bad at math.

And I would like to pass this lovely award on to the following friends! This part is always hard because I love so many blogs! Here are some of my faves:

I agree one hundred percent with your entire irrational fear answer, right down to “I like to think that most of my fears are rational…” HA! I am really terrified of dark water and I too have thought that this could be the sole reason that I never ever consider doing a triathlon. Well, that and the fact that I’m terrible at riding road bikes. 😉

  2. Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine says:

Can I just tell you that I went back to body pump yesterday for the first time in almost 5 months and OUCH!! Everything is sore. If you told me I ran a marathon yesterday I would probably believe you, although I would question why my arms are also killing me.
    Thanks for the nomination!

Yay you! I love the Liebster award and I love Sara. She’s the sweetest. You picked a great list of nominees! I am also hilariously bad at math which is why my hubby and I get along so well. I’m also a horrid present wrapper.

Ahhhhhh, Italy….(heavy sigh)…the bread….the pasta…the WINE! Through EVERY life a little vino must pass. Especially when you realize the wine you’re drinking and the pizza you’re eating is being comsumed while you’re watching the Pope say Mass. Yeah! THAT Pope! You go Frankie!

  5. Hailey @ Striding Strong says:

Mmm crab cakes. I’m in! 🙂 And I love that you wrap your presents in silly paper like that. The past few years, one person in my family has chosen another to give a “themed” gift to. Last year, my mom chose a Spiderman theme for my brother, so she wrapped and decorated it like a building and had a Spiderman action figure going up it…only it wasn’t all in joking because he’s actually super into comic books and even his work office is themed like it haha

that “where would you go if you could go anywhere” question is my fave thing to ask people. italy sounds like a fab choice and is high on my list, too. i wanna go to the Greek Islands, to Bora Bora, to New Zealand, to everywhereeee.

I am so honored!!! And still a newbie at this whole blogging thing so what do I do now?! Haha

Also, I don’t think your fear is too irrational but maybe that’s because I have similar ones like stepping on a crab/stingray/jellyfish in dark water!

I love reading these to learn more about a blogger! Oooh- I’m definitely coming to visit you now that I know it includes delicious food 🙂
I think it’s amazing you wouldn’t want a career do-over. I think that is extremely rare, and incredible!
Lol- my most embarassing race experience was definitely falling, too. It was at a track meet, and the picture of the race made the front page of the city newspaper. I was just starting to fall in the photo 🙂

CRAB CAKES!!!!! … YESSSSSSS please!!!! I’d sooooo take you up on that one Salt lol 🙂 that’s one of the major things I miss about not living in Maryland anymore. I can’t tell you how often Florida try and claim they make authentic Maryland crab cakes and it’s the furthest thing from it gah!!! And the Baltimore harbor and an Orioles games would be a total must! 🙂 is Phillip’s restaurant still on the harbor???

  10. FLRunnerBoy says:

And thanks for the nomination by the way!!! I was recently nominated by Slacker Runner and most of the questions are similar so I’ll repost that for you when I get a chance

  11. Sara @ lifebetweenthemiles says:

Oh I love your answers…and Justin Bieber wrapping paper? That is hysterical…I can’t believe they actually sell that! HA!

I just ate Robyn’s homemade crab cakes for lunch, I seriously HAVE to order them if they are on a menu, so I’d LOVE to get some in Baltimore! YUM!

I want to hear from YOU!
