We are in full-swing holiday mode around here! Santa visits, cookie baking, shopping for presents, quality time with family and friends, and pretty Christmas dresses (for B AND for me!)…I LOVE this time of year! And you know what else I love?
Awesome people who nominate me for fun blog awards. Sara is one of the most wonderful people and if you read her blog you probably know that already. She has always been so supportive of me and so many others and is such a thoughtful and caring friend. THANK YOU for my Liebster, lady!
1) What is my current health related goal?
Easy peasy. My biggest goal is to AVOID INJURY. One of the best changes that I’ve made to my routine recently is adding in more strength training in the form of Body Pump class. I feel like every other week I’m able to add extra weight to my bar and some of the nagging issues with my right leg are nil now that I’ve been so focused on getting stronger. Plus I have a butt now and my pants fit better. I guess squats will do that.
2) What is my biggest irrational fear?
I like to think that most of my fears are rational, but the one that makes the least sense is my complete and total aversion to swimming in dark water. And even when I got to swim in the clearest water in the world while in Turks & Caicos for my wedding/honeymoon, I was still having shark panic attacks. This is why I will probably never be able to do a triathlon unless the swimming portion includes a pool.
3) Do I enjoy wrapping presents?
Absolutely and I like picking out ridiculous wrapping paper to wrap the presents in even more. Mr. Salt got Justin Bieber paper last year.
4) What’s my favorite cross training activity?
Yoga! Followed closely by Body Pump and more recently bouncing on trampolines. I also like to attend the occasional spin class and get on the step mill, although I’m a little less keen on that after tumbling off it last Sunday in front of everyone at my gym.
5) If you came to visit me, what would we do?
CRAB CAKES, HON!!! You can’t come to Baltimore without getting a crab cake. If you came in the summertime, I would take you to an Orioles game and then to hang out at the harbor or maybe up to Hampden which has a lot of cool restaurants and shops. If you came around Christmas time, I’d take you to the famed Miracle on 34th street! (Also in Hampden.)
6) I have 2 weeks off work and 2 round trip plane tickets to ANYWHERE. Where would you go and who would you take?
What kind of fairy tale is this!? I agree with Sara’s non-rule following and would definitely take Mr. Salt AND Betty because I can’t imagine leaving her for 2 weeks. I’d want to go to Italy and tour as many places as I could fit in, especially Florence, Venice, Rome, and Pompeii. Meanwhile Betty would want pizza for every meal.
7) What’s the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me during a run or race?
Definitely falling down at the start of Zoo Zoom last year. I’ve taken some spills on other runs too, but a thousand people didn’t see any of those happen or almost step on me.
8) The 3 best days of my life? Or at least the top 3 that pop into my mind…
Easily #1 is the day Betty was born, despite the hideous labor and resulting c-section. #2 would be the day I married Mr. Salt. And number 3…always a very special place in my heart for the day I crossed my first marathon finish line!
9) Okay so I HAVE to eat a fast food meal. What restaurant would I choose and what do I order?
So most of you guys have never had Nalley Fresh, but you would hardly have to twist my arm to go there. I count it as fast food because it operates somewhat like a Chipotle except it’s super healthy. My current go-to is a salad with mixed greens and spinach, blackened chicken, roasted peppers, edamame, artichokes, asiago cheese, corn, and balsamic dressing.
Come to think of it, if you visited me I would probably take you there.
10) Have you ever met a celebrity?
Like it was my job. Because it was my job. I used to work in advertising for one of the biggest entertainment magazines in the country. Just living in Hollywood lent itself to meeting lots of celebs. Some of them were very nice. Some of them were not. I’ve found that in general the less well-known the celebrity is, the more obnoxious they are.
11) Share a pic of myself in non-workout clothes.
This was harder than it should have been, but here you go. I always love an excuse to post a pic of this epic meeting with my Sole Sister!
12) If I could choose to have a ‘do over’and switch careers, what would I choose and why?
No ‘do overs’ for me! My degree is in art and I’ve been working in my field for 14 years. I consider myself VERY lucky!
13) If I won an Olympic Gold Medal how do I think I would react?
Probably by passing out from shock.
14) What do I want for Christmas?
WORLD PEACE! Also shoes. I just got myself a new pair for a total steal off Ebay and I’m excited to try them out. Otherwise I have requested a new Garmin from Mr. Salt.
15) What skill do I lack?
I’m hilariously bad at math.
